| Nov. 30th, 2009 09:19 pm Dell Sucks On Monday 11/23 I purchased a new computer monitor on-line at Dell.com. The Monitor was on sale ($40 off) at $219.00. FedEx delivered it on Friday 11/27. I never opened it as it's for Christmas. On Monday (Cyber Monday) Dell has a one-day sale with the very same monitor at $184.00 ($35 less than I just paid). I called them asking if they could adjust (credit) my purchase from a week ago to reflect the new deal. I was told that Dell does NOT do that. This surprised me as over the years I have purchased many Dell devices and they always honored the best price for 30 days after a purchase. I have received credits in this fashion a couple of times over the years. I asked if I could return my current monitor and purchase a replacement at the new price. They said I could but there would be a restocking fee of 15% on the old monitor plus I had to pay the return shipping. This works out to be worse than just the new price difference.
I remember Dell when they had an unconditional 30 day trial period. As one Dell customer support person told me once if you don't like how it smells or the paint job just return it. Boy have times changed. This is the last Dell item I ever purchase and being in the computer industry I help and advise many others on their computer purchases. Their customer service seems to be out of India and has no flexibility in how to interact with customers. Current Mood: aggravated
